Well… June 18, 2008

So yeah, it’s only been three-four days and already I’m tired as hell >< London has been a whirlwind walking tour filled with very expensive things. The city’s great, very beautiful, and a lot of cranes. Lots and lots of cranes. I love it! But yeah, very expensive too >< Couldn’t really get to do much on my limited budget, but saw enough to make the stop over worth it. Glad to say the friends that I visited are safe and sound, and I can’t wait to get home in August to start living with them downtown!

Anyways, as for me, I guess I’m starting to realize the true gravity of my situation. As I left there were a lot of things I realized that I would miss about Canada, dare I even say Toronto. The food and the people tops that list of course! Being told that SA has a lot of chicken = bad news for me. I mean, Nandos is ok but chicken is not my favourite by far (sorry Emily). But really though, it seems like it’s the small things that I will be missing, as I know the bigger things will still be there for me anyways. I miss you already, truck food!

I was surprised at all the things that happened as I left though, especially with family. I mean, I always say I don’t have a hall-mark type tight knit family but we’re there when we need each other, which is what I totally prefer. However, things happened that I didn’t expect. My brother gave me a handshake, which was really odd. My mom fixed up my hair cut attempt, which was nice because I hadn’t had a conversation with her in a long time. Also, I haven’t felt my mom’s hands on my forehead in a while. That may sound weird but putting hand to forehead is a manner of greeting older people in the Philippines, but we stopped doing it here in Canada outside of with Grandparents. But yeah, when she did that it really gave me a warm feeling inside.

But yeah, I will be leaving for SA in 8 hours. I have never left the Americas before other than when I left the Philippines and now in less than a week I’m visiting 2 other continents! I’m doing so much this year that I’ve never done before and it’s making me really happy! I shall update again when I’m there, hopefully.

I am sad about one thing though. Doesn’t look like I’ll have money for the bungee jumping. Gonna have to go begging ‘rents hahaha…
